Irvine, California (April 19, 2000) Humberto De la Vega, HID Latin America/Caribbean Sales Manager, has been appointed vice president of the IMEI (Instituto Mexicano del Edificio Inteligente - Mexican Institute of Intelligent Buildings) Committee for International Relations.
In this position, De la Vega will work to facilitate the sharing of knowledge between the IMEI and similar associations located within the Americas, Spain and Portugal. The primary objective of the IMEI is to provide information to the security industry about integrating systems to create "intelligent" buildings. Intelligent buildings balance the maximization of security, comfort, and efficiency in operations with ecological concerns as well as providing the flexibility to enable new technologies to be economically integrated into existing systems.
HID is the only access control reader manufacturer to be represented on the IMEI Board of Directors. Other members of the institute include Johnson Controls, Andover and Honeywell. Members have the opportunity to showcase their latest products and to conduct seminars and conferences on newly-developed smart technologies. Formed in 1991, IMEI is located in Mexico City.
"We are pleased to be a part of the IMEI organization," said Dave Sullivan, Vice President of Sales. "Humberto will be a strong representative not only for HID, but for the access control industry as a whole. His extensive background in biometrics, cards and readers will provide a well-rounded perspective to the Smart Building market."
