HID Selected To Furnish Multi-Technology Smart Card To 14th Annual Cardtech/Securtech Conference And Exhibition Attendees

Washington D.C., April 27, 2004 – HID, the premier manufacturer of contactless access control cards and readers for the security industry, today announced that they are working with Exgenex, a leading web registration, event management, housing, eMarketing, and sales lead management company dedicated to serving the event and exposition industry, Maximus, the nation's premier smart card and biometric integrator and Thompson Media and Conferences, to supply each CardTech/SecurTech (CTST) attendee with a multi-technology smart card to gain physical access to the exhibit floor and conference sessions and as a cashless vending option to enable attendees to pay for on-site meals.

"We are proud to work with many of the top developers in the smart card industry to offer real-world technologies and applications that are speeding transactions and providing opportunities for additional card-leveraged programs," said Holly Sacks, HID's vice president of Marketing.  "Our iCLASS™ plus Prox technology provides an affordable migration path from proximity to iCLASS contactless smart card technology that offers a multitude of conveniences for the security, vending and access control markets."

Each attendee will receive a pre-programmed HID iCLASS Prox embeddable 125 kHz read plus 13.56 MHz read/write, contactless smart card to allow them to enter the CTST exhibit hall and conferences simply by presenting their card to an HID iCLASS R40 13.56 MHz contactless smart card reader.  The CTST smart card includes a contact chip to support CTST attendee registration and the data is later collected and managed by exhibitors utilizing Exgenex's prospect data management software simply by inserting the card into a smart card reader at each exhibitor's booth.  The multi-technology card also offers the attendees the ability to obtain pre-paid meals simply by presenting their card to an iCLASS R40 13.56 MHz contactless smart card reader.  Each application from access control to vending and data collection utilizes their EventSecure™ suite of secure smart card application software from MAXIMUS.
